General Information
In Colorado, probate matters include but are not limited to the appointment of personal representatives and the administration and settlement of decedents’ estates, trust registrations and trust actions, and the appointment and monitoring of guardians and conservators for minors and adults. District Court Judges in all counties and some Magistrates, except in the City and County of Denver hear probate cases. The Colorado Constitution created the Denver Probate Court and defines its jurisdiction, which includes all probate matters, alcohol/drug commitments and related matters, and the adjudication of the mentally ill.
