By Colorado Revised Statues, Title 13, Article 71 Colorado Uniform Jury Selection and Service Act, §13-71-105(3), you are eligible to be a trial juror if you have been convicted of a felony.  But, you are not eligible to be a grand juror. A felony conviction may be a factor the parties consider in determining whether to keep a person on the jury during the selection process at the court.
 

Restorative Justice or Restorative Community Justice is a philosophy or way of delivering justice that balances the needs of the victim, community and offender in determining the appropriate response to a criminal offense. In general, people who practice restorative justice believe that crime damages individual and community relationships and that safety and the restoration of those relationships through either voluntary or mandated actions of the offender should be the primary goal of the criminal justice system.

If you require an ADA accommodation, please submit an ADA Request at least 5 days prior to the date of your jury service. An ADA request must include a specific reasonable accommodation that may assist you to serve as a juror. If there are no reasonable accommodations that will assist you to serve as a juror, please complete either a Postponement or Disqualification form depending on which will best serve your situation. A non-family member can petition the court to adopt a child they are caring for if: 

• The birth parents have abandoned the child for one year or more, or 
• The birth parents have failed to provide reasonable support for the child, such as failing to pay child support, for one year or more. 
• The non-family member must have legal custody over the child established either through an Allocation of Parental Responsibilities (APR) or Guardianship case. The non-family member will petition the court for a “Custodial Adoption.” C.R.S. § 19-5-203(k)

Each judicial district has a local ADA Coordinator or Jury Commissioner who is responsible for arranging reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities. Accommodation requests should be submitted to the local ADA Coordinator or Jury Commissioner by accessing the ADA Online Request form.

The request should identify the particular court program or service for which accommodation is sought, the date, time and location where the accommodation is needed, a description of the disability and the type of accommodation being requested. All requests for an accommodation will be held confidential.

Your employer has a duty under state law to pay regular wages up to $50 per day if you are regularly employed per §13-71-126, C.R.S.  Employers may pay more than $50 by mutual agreement. If you are self-employed you may ask the court for up to $50 per day for the first three days or juror service (§13-71-127, C.R.S.). Unemployed persons may apply for reimbursement of certain expenses during the first three days. After the third day, all jurors receive $50 per day from the state. There are provisions for special hardships and certain expenses.  Please discuss these with the jury commissioner.
 

There are five security levels for documents filed with the court:

• Public: Access to court, all case parties, and public.
• Protected: Access to the public following redaction.
• Restricted: Access to judges, court and Judicial Department staff, all case parties (including parties' attorneys), and criminal justice agencies.  
• Suppressed: Access to judges, court and Judicial Department staff, and all case parties (including parties’ attorneys).
• Sealed: Access to judges and court/Judicial Department staff.

There are three security levels for serve-only documents:

• Public: All case parties and public.
• Suppressed: All case parties only.
• Private: Filing parties and served parties only.

Collections Investigators and the Office of Restitution Services are available to answer questions, regardless of an offender’s status.

However, responsibility for collection of restitution transfers to the Department of Corrections or the Division of Youth Services while the offender is in custody of that facility. Payments continue to be sent to the Clerk of Court for disbursement to victims. Please contact the appropriate department listed below for additional information:
