General Statement Of Duties

Summary of Job Classification:
The Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering effective internal communications to enhance employee engagement, promote organizational transparency, and support a unified workplace culture across the Judicial Department. 

Essential Functions Of the Position

  • Executes internal communication plans to ensure alignment with organizational goals, employee needs, leadership goals, and workplace culture initiatives.
  • Coordinates communication channels to disseminate information efficiently among staff, audiences, and groups in various formats, strengthening communications by identifying the appropriate audience and providing the correct message in the proper format.
  • Drafts and distributes internal newsletters, emails, employee engagement efforts, and operational and administrative updates.
  • Coordinates with representatives across the State Court Administrators Office and the Judicial Department, working on newsletter, videos, podcasts, intranet postings/pages, and internal communications to create a department-wide content schedule.
  • Implements and evaluates effective communication platforms and methods, and ensures cohesive messaging, branding, and delivery on such platforms.
  • Manages an employee engagement dashboard to facilitate effective communication channels between divisions, courts, and staff, while providing an online resource repository.
  • Ensures up-to-date content and internal employee information on intranets and SharePoint sites.
  • Supports leadership with preparing internal communications around policy changes, procedural updates, and important announcements.
  • Assists with coordinating and communicating all employee quarterly meetings by preparing agendas, prepping speakers, sending calendar notices, and monitoring and facilitating virtual meetings.
  • Implements internal employee engagement events, including Public Service Recognition Week and assisting and supporting workplace culture initiatives' internal communication work.
  • Attends meetings and completes training as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Freedom to Act & Impact of Actions:
Employees normally perform assignments according to your own judgement requesting Supervisory assistance only when necessary. Special projects are managed with little oversight and assignments may be reviewed upon completion. Performance reviewed periodically.

Knowledge & Skills:
Work requires advanced skills and advanced and extensive knowledge of work. Incumbent can handle complex tasks and translate complex nuances related to aspects of the job. Recognized by others within organization for technical depth of knowledge.

Fiscal Responsibility:
Position has no fiscal responsibility.

Minimum Education

Education and Experience Equivalency:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a closely related field.

OR

Additional professional experience in internal communications or related field may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Work Related Experience:
At least three (3) years of work-related experience in internal communications, public information, employee engagement, or a related communications role. Experience developing and implementing internal communication strategies, writing for diverse audiences, and managing content across multiple platforms is required.

Licenses and Certifications: 
None.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree preferred. Internal communications work in a multi-location entity preferred.

Physical Demands

Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally.

Work Environment

Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazard. Office environment.
