Reed W. Owens

Judge Owens was appointed as District Court Judge October 30, 2018, and currently presides in Summit County.  Prior to taking the bench, Owens was a Lead Deputy Public Defender in the Dillon Regional Office of the Colorado State Public Defender. His practice consisted of criminal defense, including juvenile, misdemeanor, and felony matters. Owens earned his B.A. from Colorado College and his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Judge Owens sits on the Access to Justice committee, presides over the Summit County Recovery Court, and enjoys skiing and biking in his free time.
