Jeffrey M. Schwartz

Jeffrey M. Schwartz was appointed to the Eighth Judicial District Court bench on September 15, 2026, by Governor Jared Polis.  

Prior to this appointment, Judge Schwartz served as a District Court Magistrate (January 2023-September 2026) and worked as a deputy state public defender in Colorado Springs.  In 2009 he moved to Fort Collins and co-founded the Law Office of Schwartz and Waible, LLC (later, Schwartz, Waible, and Esser, LLC) where his practice focused primarily on criminal defense and juvenile defense.

Judge Schwartz received his bachelor’s degree in Criminology from Adams State College in 1999, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2003.  He was admitted to the Colorado Bar in 2003 and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado in 2011.
