Daniel M. St. John II

Daniel M. St. John II was appointed to the Eighth Judicial District Court bench by Governor Jared Polis on December 2, 2025. Before his appointment, Judge St. John was a shareholder at Johnson Muffly & Dauster, PC in Fort Collins. Judge St. John’s private practice focused on civil litigation, including real estate and commercial disputes, and appeals. He began his legal career as a law clerk for Hon. Stephen E. Howard and Hon. Julie Kunce Field of the Eighth Judicial District.

Community involvement is important to Judge St. John. He has been a member of a Rotary Club in Fort Collins since 2016. Judge St. John is a past-president of the Larimer County Bar Association and has held leadership positions in the Colorado Bar Association. Before taking the bench, he was a Commissioner on the Eighth Judicial District Performance Commission (and served as a term as its Chair).  

 Judge St. John earned his undergraduate degree cum laude from the University of Southern California, double majoring in economics and international relations. He received his law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where he served as the Online Editor-in-Chief of the Denver Journal of International Law & Policy, 10th Circuit Survey Editor of the Denver University Law Review, and captain of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court team.
