Colorado Courts E‑Filing Fee Change Effective October 1
Starting October 1, 2026, the Colorado Judicial Department will increase the Colorado Courts E‑Filing (CCE) e-filing, e-service, mailing and case history access fees, $12-15 to $18. This applies to anyone who files through CCE, including attorneys and self-represented individuals.
Why the Fee Is Changing
The increase supports long‑term work on the technology that keeps the courts operating. The fee goes into the IT Cash Fund, which pays for things like:
- Upgrades to virtual court systems for enhanced remote proceedings
- Modernization of the case management system for improved functionality for court and probation staff and the public
- Hardware, software, and staffing needed to keep access to court records functional, secure and reliable
- Continued maintenance and development of systems used across the Judicial Branch
These technology projects touch nearly every part of daily court operations, so keeping them funded is important.
How the Fee Is Set
Under C.R.S. § 13‑32‑114 and Chief Justice Directive 08‑02, the Department sets cost‑recovery fees so they match the actual cost of providing electronic access to court information. The updated directive clarifies the purpose of these fees.
What Users Need to Know
- The updated $18 fees will appear in CCE on October 1, 2026.
- Preview the upcoming fee chart.
- Users don’t need to change anything.
- Filing steps stay the same.
- Notification Fees will not change.
