Jan. 12, 2026, DENVER— Chief Justice Monica Márquez today announced her appointments to the Colorado Supreme Court’s newly established Legal Technology Advisory Committee. The Committee will play a central role in helping the Colorado judiciary and legal community navigate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), to ensure that justice, integrity, and innovation remain at the forefront of Colorado’s legal system.

Justice Melissa Hart announces retirement from Colorado Supreme Court

Dec. 19, 2025, DENVER—Colorado Supreme Court Justice Melissa Hart has announced her retirement from the bench, effective Jan. 5, 2026. After a temporary leave of absence, Justice Hart submitted her retirement notice to Chief Justice Monica Márquez today, Friday, Dec. 19, 2025.

Introducing Virtual Your Honor: Journey to the Bench Sessions

Colorado Courts Announce Thanksgiving Holiday Closures for 2025

Nov. 19, 2025, DENVER - All Colorado state courts and probation offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27, for Thanksgiving Day. 

In addition, the following Colorado state courts and probation offices will be closed on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, and/or Friday, Nov. 28, 2025. Courts and probation offices will be closed all day, unless otherwise noted.

Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025 Closures

13th Judicial District (Kit Carson, Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington and Yuma counties) Combined Courts and Probation Offices will close at noon.

Tow Designated Next Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals

Nov. 13, 2025, DENVER— Chief Justice Monica Márquez announced today a key leadership transition, appointing Court of Appeals Judge Ted Tow as the chief judge-designate of the Colorado Court of Appeals, as Chief Judge Gilbert Román prepares for the end of his term as chief on July 31, 2026. During this time, Judge Tow will go through an onboarding process, working directly with Chief Judge Román.

Nov. 10, 2025, DENVER - National Adoption Day is being celebrated in many of Colorado’s Judicial Districts in November, with judges and magistrates across Colorado finalizing the adoptions of dozens of foster children into permanent families.

4th Judicial District Recovery Court Honors Seven Graduates in Heartfelt Ceremony

Oct. 7, 2025, Colorado Springs, Colo - The 4th Judicial District Recovery Court is proud to announce the graduation of seven participants from its rigorous and transformative problem-solving court program. The ceremony will be held on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Jury Assembly Room (W113) at the El Paso County Courthouse, 270 S. Tejon St., Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

4th Judicial District Hosts Community Resource Fair

Oct. 2, 2025, COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Meet dozens of service providers offering resources for employment, housing, recovery, mental health, and more at the annual Community Resource Fair presented by the 4th Judicial District problem-solving courts.

The fair will take place inside the west tower of the El Paso County Courthouse at 270 S. Tejon St. in Colorado Springs on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The fair is free and open to residents in both El Paso and Teller counties.

Colorado Courts Launch Competency Diversion Program After Bill Passage

Sept. 9, 2025, DENVER – The Colorado Judicial Department is introducing a new structure for how courts respond to individuals found or likely to be found incompetent to stand trial, launching new alternatives aimed at reducing wait times for inpatient competency restoration, supporting recovery, and promoting public safety.
